Placement Testing

Placement testing will help determine the student’s readiness for the grade level and ability to meet the academic expectations of the program. This placement testing is required for 3rd – 12th grade students. Current standardized test scores (Stanford Achievement or Iowa Basic tests results less than one year old) may be submitted in lieu of WPA’s placement testing. Office personnel will schedule a testing time upon receipt of the completed application and fee. WPA utilizes a standardized test in language arts and math, in addition to requiring a pre-determined, grade-level appropriate written essay.

The testing fee is $45.00 and due at the time of student testing.

• The math test will be required if your child is registering for a math course.

• The language arts test will be required if your child is registering for language arts, history, science and/or a foreign language course.

Placement testing is scheduled by appointment only and lasts approximately 2 hours. Materials needed during the test include two #2 sharpened pencils, an eraser, and a ruler without calculations.
